Giali, as the locals call it, built on the big sandy bay which is surrounded by the dominating mountain of Krikelo with the three villages (Potamos, Lagada, Tholaria) is the second port of the island and less leeward than Katapola.

This fishing village was the seaport of Potamos and it had fertile orchards and low houses. It started developing touristically since the 60s-70s ranking high in the preference list of those who love less cosmopolitan destinations and free camping. Gradually Aegiali (which is not connected to ancient Aegiali that is located near Tholaria) became famous and obtained many rooms to let and small hotels.

On the coastal front you will find super markets, ouzeri, taverns and café-bars. Walking through the vertical alleys you will discover the old church of Panagitsa, built upon an ancient sanctuary. Then you will take a walk on the coastal pedestrian street leading to Lakki –also with taverns and beach bars. At the end of Lakki beach there are tall stone walls upon the sand coming from a Roman facility. Part of the monumental edifice, which was known as Derivas, stands half-buried in the sand.
